The ancient Greeks used chaos to describe the gap before beginning of the world, the initial formlessness.

My recent paintings explore the narrow line between chaos and control. What amount does my artist’s hand to be involved in creating a painting? How little control can I bring to the process? Mixing, pouring, I allow dripping, spilling. If I am unsatisfied, I wipe it away and begin again. A painting is finished when I can do no more.

Biomorphic shapes, unexpected visual relationships, pattern and fragile beauty all interest me.
